MATCHING BUSINESS NEEDS
The Public Sector Agreement (PSA09) supports simpler and more cost effective use of ICT across different types of user in public sector organisations. Public sector organisations can transfer partially and fully-paid licences (subject to PSA09 terms and conditions) if their business requirements change. A front-line package is also available for staff employed in contact centres, job centres, and benefit delivery offices who only need technology to support these job functions.
Under PSA09, customers can also continue to choose Microsoft Desktop packages, or choose
Public Sector packages (see chart below), for their Enterprise Agreement (EA).
Product acquisition is simplified with the ability to purchase software for a function. Additionally, the agreement helps to ensure greater transparency and accountability within an organisation. By offering greater flexibility, it is easier for organisations to relate the role of ICT more directly to business benefits. A fundamental principle of PSA09 is the ability to model use of ICT in relation to types of employees recognising that their particular roles and responsibilities require specific tools.
