The Microsoft SAM Programme (UK)
Software Asset Management
Your software licences are a business asset like any other, so it’s important to know what you have, what you’re using and what you need. But managing software assets can be a daunting task, often complex and time- consuming. If you have limited resources (and who doesn’t?), it can be difficult to know where to start. That’s why we have introduced a structured Software Asset Management (SAM) programme to help you.
Microsoft want to work with you openly on SAM, advising on the processes, tools and resources you’ll need to take full control of your software assets and licences.
Benefits of the SAM Programme
Smoother operations: Eliminate the security risks associated with non-legitimate software. So you can stop worrying about security problems and start focusing on running your business.
Better price points: Gain the knowledge you need to buy from your software resellers in bulk.
Better market position: Smooth mergers and acquisitions through up-to-date licensing and a comprehensive media library. Reduce time-to-market with streamlined functionality and a thorough knowledge of your existing software.
Financial security: Protect yourself from unexpected licensing costs and take advantage of tax benefits associated with software depreciation.
Eliminate waste and redundancy: Enable more effective software deployment by identifying unused software that’s still being maintained. (Always check your licence agreements, as some limit the transfer of software.)
Volume discounts: Use SAM to determine whether to buy on a per-PC basis or look into volume licence acquisition to save money and improve management when it comes to buying licences.
Every employee benefits: Reduce costs by cutting down on individual training for managers and enjoy the morale-boost of working with trouble-free software.
Liability: Use SAM to limit your legal liability in relation to licensing practices.
Future benefits: Gain better insight into your future software and hardware requirements.
Corporate governance: A good SAM programme helps you identify, control and mitigate risk.
